Introduction

Gas Ducted Heating Systems are among the most common and traditional heaters used in homes located in cold climatic regions. Ducted central heating comprises a central heating unit, which is connected to a series of outlets. Positioned strategically throughout your home, these outlets or ducts are installed either in the floor or ceiling.

Positioning of the heating unit depends on your house. If your house is built on a concrete slab, the unit is installed in the roof. If it has space underneath the house or have a very low roof line, the unit is installed outside or under the floor. The ductwork which connects the outlets to the heating unit is neatly tucked away out of sight. Your system will need to be sized accordingly to the area in which needs to be heated by one of our experts, this will prolong the effectiveness of the system.

How Does Gas Ducted Heating Work?

  1. These heaters are fuelled by gas and as the term implies, the system makes use of ductwork to draw the air, heat it and send it throughout the living areas of the home through the ductwork situated in the ceiling or under the floor.
  2. Air is heated in the heat exchanger by clean burning gas. A thermostat controls the flow of warm and cold air to create the balance needed.
  3. The air flows through to the rooms through vents that are usually located near the doors and windows as these are the coldest sections of the home.

What Is ‘ad-on’ Cooling?

Ducted Heating is the only medium that can welcome integration with a cooling system. When ‘add-on’ cooling is installed, the system can reverse the heating process. During hot weather when the temperature dramatically increases, the systems cooling components (condenser, evaporator and lines) transform and condition regular air to become cool.

How Do I Accommodate For Zoning?

To maximize convenience in the system, it is recommended to choose a model that can accommodate zoning. Note that the vents cannot ensure even heating and cooling of rooms. Advanced models however are equipped with mechanisms guaranteeing that air is blown evenly and that all areas are not warmer or cooler than the others. For more information about how zoning works, visit the Ducted Refrigerated Cooling page.
